400 New Mosque on Tehran Municipality’s Agenda

Tehran Municipality is planning to construct some 400 new mosques, the municipality’s deputy for social and cultural affairs said.

 Tehran Municipality is planning to construct some 400 new mosques, the municipality’s deputy for social and cultural affairs said.

Mohammad Hadi Ayazi said that the 400 planned mosques will be built in five years based on the municipality’s second five-year plan.

He was speaking on Saturday, on the sidelines of a ceremony marking the start of construction of the Milad Tower’s mosque.

Ayazi underlined that the city’s urban management has paid special attention to cultural and religious  issues and that building mosques, garden museums and cultural centers is on its agenda.

He went on to say that Tehran municipality has undertaken to build 72 mosques and will start constructing 150 more mosques later this year.
